Sinclair Pharma plc annonce sa première demande d'approbation au Japonet sa première autorisation de mise sur le marché en Australie

12 septembre 2007, Godalming, GB. Sinclair Pharma plc (SPH.B), fabricant de produits pharmaceutiques spécialisés, annonce avoir déposé sa première demande d'approbation au Japon.

Cette " demande d'accréditation de fabricant étranger " constitue la première étape réglementaire vers la commercialisation de son produit de soin gingival, le Decapinol, sur cet important territoire commercial. Sinclair projette d'engager la phase finale du processus de demande, la pré-approbation " quasi drug ", dans le courant 2008.

Dès qu'il aura été approuvé, le Decapinol pourra être vendu par un partenaire de marketing sur le territoire japonais. Le Decapinol est le produit phare de Sinclair pour le traitement de la gingivite (inflammation des gencives). Décrit dans un récent article de la presse clinique comme un traitement de " troisième génération ", il s'agit d'un produit breveté, qui a reçu de nombreuses accolades pour son tout nouveau mode d'action contre la gingivite et la plaque dentaire (deux facteurs favorisant la parodontite, une forme sévère de maladie gingivale qui peut provoquer la chute des dents).

Sinclair annonce également que la commercialisation d'Atopiclair et de Sebclair comme produits médicaux de classe IIa a été approuvée en Australie. OTCO Global, le distributeur australien de Sinclair, prévoit de lancer ces deux produits dans un délai de six mois. Il s'agit là des premières approbations obtenues par Sinclair pour l'Australie.

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gum surrounding the teeth. Periodontitis is a more advanced and severe condition that may result in bone or tooth loss. Both conditions are associated with dental plaque bacteria.

Current treatment of gingivitis may involve the use of an oral rinse, alongside 'scaling and planing' (mechanical cleaning of the teeth by a dental professional).

Decapinol has a new mechanism of action that offers an 'intelligent' way to treat gingivitis. It acts at the interface between dental plaque bacteria and the surface of the tooth/gum - the starting point for all gingivitis. Decapinol® prevents the bacteria that cause gingivitis from adhering to these surfaces and to one another. This adhesion is essential for the bacteria to cause the disease and if it is prevented it allows the desirable bacteria responsible for maintaining a healthy mouth to dominate again. This softens dental plaque, making it easier to remove, and prevents its re-formation. It therefore promotes better gum health and clinical studies have shown that Decapinol® significantly reduces gingivitis.

Decapinol has advantages over existing products, which may cause semi-permanent tooth staining. While other leading products work by killing oral bacteria indiscriminately, Decapinol® specifically targets the 'bad' bacteria associated with gum disease. Decapinol® therefore promotes a healthy balance of oral bacteria.

Decapinol is already cleared for sale in the USA by the FDA, as a medical device. It is also approved in the EC and is available in Italy. In Japan, it will be filed under the regulatory category "quasi drug" as the medical device category does not exist in Japan.
