( BW)(IPC-INFORMATION-SYSTEMS) Japan's Sumitomo Trust Bank Installs IPC VoIP Trading System on London and Tokyo Trading Floors
Business Editors/High-Tech Writers
TOKYO & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2005--IPC Information Systems, LLC, a leading provider of mission-critical communication solutions for global enterprises, today announced that Japan's leading trust bank Sumitomo Trust Banking Co., Ltd., has installed IPC's Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) IQMX trading system on its London and Tokyo trading floors. When the bank sought to renew its London and Tokyo trading floor communication systems, it conducted a competitive assessment of multiple trading system vendors and selected IPC. The bank cites IPC's worldwide presence, industry experience and expertise as key factors in its decision. Together with the New York office which introduced IPC's IQMX in late 2002, Sumitomo is now trading on IPC systems at all three of its major global sites - London, Tokyo and New York
Mr. Seiji Hayashi, Senior Manager, ITBusinessProcessingDepartment of Sumitomo Trust says, "We selected IPC's IQMX based on the benefits it offers. It was very important to us that we improve the users' operational efficiency, and we liked the smaller foot-print, easy-to-see and easy-to-use features of the IQMX desktop. In addition, operational stability is the absolute highest requirement for our trading systems, and IPC's distributed architecture is highly reliable." Mr. Ryuji Mori, System Development Department of Sumishin Information Service Co., Ltd. who was responsible for the installation said, "IPC's turrets are very user-friendly. Although the IQMX was operationally different from our old turrets, our users did not have any difficulties making the transition. Also, maintaining IPC's turrets is easy, and we can expect an increase in maintenance efficiency going forward." Furthermore, Mr. Mitsuhiro Tani, Manager, IT Department, of Sumitomo Trust London Branch said, "It is true that the London office followed the decision of the Tokyo floor based on the idea of sharing the handling know-how and technical information. However, because we in London have fewer in-house support staff, IPC's system fault-tolerance and their high quality customer support in UK became indispensable when we selected the new system.
As a result, we are very pleased to have chosen the system that meets both requirements
Also, since we have already introduced an IP PBX in London, we recognize the effectiveness of the VoIP technology. Therefore, the transition to IP made possible by adopting IQMX, the VoIP turret, was very attractive. We trust that this will be most suitable as we prepare for our bank's global common infrastructure." Stephen Phillips, Managing Director Asia Pacific of IPC said, "We are honored that such a leading Japanese bank as Sumitomo Trust Banking Co. has selected IPC. Our mission is to deliver high quality and value-added voice communications technology solutions that support global trading floors. We will continue to help meet the growing and diversified needs of financial services customers in this region and around the world and to help them achieve global trading efficiency."
