REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 6, 2005--Shattering the mobile usability barrier, Action Engine Corporation, the mobile application platform leader, today announced that it has appointed Mike Kent as Vice President of EMEA. Mike has been appointed to spearhead Action Engine's European expansion programme with responsibility for growing Action Engine's European footprint. Specifically, Mike will bring the Fierce15-rated Action Engine Mobile Application Platform and turnkey Brand-n-Go mobile applications pack to operators across Europe. To implement, Mike has already added two highly experienced sales and two pre-sales directors. Mike's team will have responsibility for initiating his business development and marketing strategies throughout the European geography. Mike draws on an extensive background in sales and marketing within small and large mobile and wireless companies across the value-chain. Prior to joining Action Engine, Mike was a director at Magic4, and more recently Openwave, where he was responsible for European and American sales and global marketing.
During his time at the company, Mike successfully negotiated the single largest industry-wide messaging deal with Qualcomm. Mike holds an MBA with distinction from Manchester Business School in the UK. Scott Silk, president and CEO, Action Engine said: "The European mobile market is a 'perfect storm.' Smartphone and Java handset penetration is very high, and faster networks and more sophisticated mobile applications are now routinely available. Against this backdrop, end users are moving through the cycle of adoption towards an implicit understanding of what can be achieved over wireless networks. "Action Engine needed someone who understood these market cues to guide the company through its expansion into Europe. Mike has demonstrated an excellent industry pedigree that made him the ideal candidate for the job." Mike Kent said: "The Action Engine proposition is compelling -- its browserless client/server platform allows users to access and use mobile applications with 80% fewer keystrokes and 20X faster response times than browser-based alternatives.
The user experience is greatly enhanced, increasing the likelihood of repeat usage and ultimately driving ARPU for operators. "I am looking forward to taking content and application delivery to the next level in Europe at Action Engine."
