LONDON and OSLO, Norway--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 13, 2005--The Boeing company's new B777-200LR Worldliner exhibited this week at the Paris Air Show will be equipped with flight-proven passenger mobile cellular technology from AeroMobile(TM), a partnership of ARINC Incorporated and Telenor. The AeroMobile in-flight technology will travel with the Worldliner on its World Tour later in the year
"Market research has proven that passengers--especially business people on international flights--carry mobile phones and the majority would like the option of using them," stated Graham Lake, Managing Director, ARINC Europe, Middle East, and Africa
AeroMobile is designed to initially leverage the proven Inmarsat "Classic" Aero H, H+ & I satcom systems already installed on the majority of today's long-haul commercial aircraft. The architecture making this possible will also support future broadband satellite solutions as they become available, yielding a comprehensive, future-proof solution for in-flight mobile connectivity available only from AeroMobile
"AeroMobile's is the only proven technology flying today that offers airlines an economical future-proofed solution," stated Jan Tore Meren, Senior Vice President, Telenor New Business.
"Using AeroMobile, airlines with Classic Inmarsat satcom equipment can offer cellular services to today's passengers at minimal cost. And they can upgrade the service as future advanced Inmarsat connectivity becomes available. AeroMobile is the lowest-cost, lowest-risk, and highest-return solution available for in-flight mobile, period."
