ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2005--ARINC Incorporated today announced an exclusive agreement with leading network innovator Vanco to offer low-cost, high quality, secure broadband connectivity for the air transport industry worldwide
Vanco is a pioneer of the global Virtual Network Operator (VNO) business model with 20,000 customer connections and service available in 230 countries and territories.
ARINC operates one of the world's premier private networks--AviNet(TM)--serving some 800 aviation industry partners
Under the new agreement, ARINC gains the world's most experienced provider of fully managed global DSL and MPLS network solutions, while Vanco gains an experienced aviation industry partner as sales channel for its products in the air transport and travel industry
The joint offering is of particular importance to airlines that have previously been constrained by legacy infrastructure.
Such companies can now have immediate access to a solution that fits their requirements
"With Vanco's solutions, ARINC can save the aviation and air transport industry millions of dollars (USD) per year on wide-area networking--a quantum leap in price vs. performance," stated Stephen E. Means, ARINC Vice President of Marketing and Sales.
The agreement with Vanco addresses two major industry needs--to reduce current telecommunications costs and provide high quality, fully managed broadband solutions critical for the application-driven IT environment
"We intend to transform the way the airline and travel industry does networking," continued Means.
"For example, companies with hundreds of local offices can now replace costly legacy infrastructure and have secure, fully managed DSL service at a dramatically lower cost--including service level agreements (SLAs) to meet their business-critical network requirements." ARINC will offer Vanco's IP Secure(TM), a fully-managed Internet broadband VPN solution with SLAs and backup resiliency options.
ARINC will also offer Vanco's MPLS Matrix(TM) service integrated with AviNet's existing MPLS capabilities to offer 6 classes of service with support for voice, video, and multiple data classes.
The combination of ARINC's AviNet Private IP service seamlessly integrated with Vanco's products results in a comprehensive private network offering now available in an unrivaled number of countries
"The combination of Vanco as the leading global VNO with ARINC's strong reputation in the air transport and travel industry will be very powerful," stated Allen Timpany, Vanco's Chief Executive.
"The Vanco portfolio seamlessly delivers to ARINC customers an even wider choice of network resources in a single service offering.
This combination of global reach, robust connectivity, and implementation experience with DSL technology is unequalled in the industry." With ten times the bandwidth of legacy connections at a fraction of the cost, DSL service will finally allow airlines to justify high-speed networking at sites such as cargo operations, FSOs, City Ticket Offices, Kiosks, and smaller airports.
Even airlines with medium-size networks could save up to $1 million (USD) per year by moving their lower-criticality sites to DSL.
Many airlines and travel industry companies will be able to replace complex multiple network and supplier contracts with a single-source solution
Vanco plc (FTSE:VAN), pioneer of the VNO business model, does not own network assets and therefore provides its enterprise clients with the freedom to benefit from cost-effective, optimized, and fully-managed network solutions on a global basis.
Vanco's unique business model has been a success for almost two decades, and the list of world leading companies who rely upon Vanco for their network communications solutions includes Accor Hotels, Avis Europe, British Airways, Europcar, Ford Motor Company, IBM/ Lloyds TSB, Pilkington, and more than 170 others.
