Stockholm, November 16th, 2005 - Continuing on an impressive 400% growth year over year in revenues, Appear Networks announces the appointment of two highly regarded software development specialists to its Stockholm-based European headquarters.
Karl Avedal has programming experience in a wide variety of middleware technologies and is considered one of the top Java developers in Europe. He joins Appear Networks directly from running his own company focusing on methods to develop domain specific languages. In 1999, he co-founded Ironflare AB, the creators of the Orion Application Server, which quickly became a major player in the J2EE application server space. In 2000, the Orion Application Server became the first application server to implement all of J2EE and in 2001 Oracle licensed the Orion technology. Mr. Avedal is also the co-author of the books Professional JSP and Professional Java Server Programming, J2EE Edition, both published in 2000 and has worked in several of Sun Microsystem's expert groups within the J2EE field where he worked to stipulate J2EE specifications.

Björn Carlson is a well respected computer scientist with experience in network programming, software architecture, web design, and security. He joins Appear Networks from OMX Technology, where he led the development of a .Net and Oracle based server for the management of securities and cash. Prior to working with OMX, he was a developer and architect at AOL/Netscape in Mountain View, California, USA where he developed servers for dynamic web pages. Mr. Carlson has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Uppsala, Sweden.
Mr. Carlson adds, "I feel that my experience with large scale transaction systems at OMX as well as cutting-edge server technologies at Netscape, together with Appear's know-how in enterprise mobility software, will complement each other well.
