Delivery of the vehicles is scheduled to start in May 2008 and is due for completion in December 2008. The locomotives, which are renowned for their above-average reliability, will be manufactured at the Bombardier site in Kassel, Germany. The bogies will be supplied by Bombardier's site in Siegen, Germany, with propulsion and control equipment produced in Mannheim.
The TRAXX locomotives are powered with the highly reliable BOMBARDIER MITRAC propulsion and control system offering optimized performance and energy efficiency. The MITRAC equipment has been selected for well over 3000 locomotives all around the world.
"This first order with Allco shows that our TRAXX locomotives are indeed an outstanding product, that fulfill all economic requirements a successful leasing company is looking for in its rail vehicles", said Edmund Schlummer, President, Locomotives, Bombardier Transportation.
